Merging the terrestrial and the celestial, Goodman creates stained glass-like panels based on the compositions of the winter constellations. This uniquely diverse beet harvest, ranging in size, shape and color mirrors the complexity above us with that below us.
Julia Anne Goodman: On Verticality

This solo exhibition is presented in conjunction with the site-specific window installation at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), includes three bodies of works that explore the connections between the earth and stars. Material includes found slides, bed sheets and t-shirts, and beets. The work seeks to explore our relationship to one another and our environment, providing a meditation on how material can reflect our fragile resiliency and our short time on earth.
